The rise and rise of online video - the facts

Consumers now expect information on-demand, and that content must be instant and engaging. In response, companies now spend more on online and digital promotion than on any other form of media.

UK internet users view in excess of 5 billion videos per month. In the last 5 years, online video has grown at the phenomenal rate of 910%.

Recent studies showed online video to be 7 times more successful at generating leads than conventional static alternatives, with consumers much more likely to place a booking thereafter.

Technologies to deliver video content are developing at a phenomenal pace, with Quick Response (QR) codes and Near Field Communication (NFC) now allowing consumers to watch video content just by holding their mobile phone or tablet in close proximity to items such as:-

  • business cards
  • printed adverts
  • posters & pens

This new digital era will continue to increase online video engagement exponentially over the coming years.
